From a sub-contract gang
to a limited company
The business started life in the 1960s as a sub-contractor, working for other builders on other people's sites. Steady work, repeat clients and a reputation for turning up and finishing the job turned it into the limited company that trades today.
We now employ more than thirty tradesmen directly and turn over in the region of £3 million a year. The trades stay in-house for a reason: it is the only way we can stand behind the standard of construction on every contract and keep qualified people on the tools rather than chasing labour each Monday morning.
Most of our work comes from clients and developers we have built for before. That is the measure we care about.

What that means on site
One company, one set of standards — our own bricklayers, joiners, groundworkers and plant operators, managed by the directors who own the business.
Two disciplines, one workforce
We take on building and civil engineering work separately or together — which is how a developer can hand us a site at ground level and take it back finished.

Standards are set at the top
Health and safety is not a folder in the office. It is inducted, talked about weekly and checked by the directors on site.
- 01
CITB apprenticeships
We train our own. Apprentices are taken on through the CITB and work alongside time-served tradesmen from their first week on site.
- 02
PPE for every employee
Personal protective equipment is issued to every employee, replaced when it needs replacing, and worn as a condition of working on our sites.
- 03
Toolbox talks
Regular toolbox talks keep method, risk and site conditions in front of the gangs doing the work, not filed in an office.
- 04
Site inductions
Everyone setting foot on one of our sites is inducted first — our own men, sub-contractors and visitors alike.
- 05
Director interventions
Our directors visit sites unannounced and intervene on the spot where standards slip. Safety is signed off at board level.
